  8.   LAN Menu is a network shell that hides the underlying operating
  9. system from the uninitiated user, yet  does not get in the way of
  10. the expert user.  The basic system  consist of up to  one hundred
  11. Menu Files  with ten menu  pages each, and  each page having  ten
  12. selections to choose  from. You start a selection  by pointing to
  13. it with the cursor and pressing  the ENTER key or by pressing the
  14. number  key associated  with that  selection. Each  selection can
  15. start a program, run a batch file, or execute any DOS command.  A
  16. selection can also  have multiple steps which can  include any or
  17. all  of the  possibilities above.  You can  change menu  pages by
  18. pressing the F1 thru F10 keys to go directly to page 1 thru 10 or
  19. use the PgUp and PgDn keys.  Each page and each selection on each
  20. page has a user definable description.

  22. The  slash key  displays a  1-2-3  type  menu at  the top  of the
  23. screen.  The choices  from the  menu include:  Help, Add, Change,
  24. Delete, Move, Page,  Run, Exit, and Quit. If  you select HELP you
  25. are presented with  another menu and screens that  explain how to
  26. use the Menu  System. ADD, CHANGE, DELETE, and  MOVE allow you to
  27. alter the description and action  taken by a Main Menu selection.
  28. PAGE  lets you  change the   description of  a Page  Index entry,
  29. import  pages, and  delete pages.  RUN allows  you to execute any
  30. program, DOS command, or batch  file from within the Menu System.
  31. EXIT returns you  to the DOS prompt and QUIT  erases the Top Menu
  32. and puts  you back in  the Main Menu.  Other commands in  the Top
  33. Menu allow you  to set up macros, passwords,  menu titles, change
  34. colors  and window  borders, set  communications parameters,  set
  35. mouse sensitivity, and  blank the menu screen after  a set amount
  36. of time.

  38. LanMenu works by letting DOS run temporary batch files that start
  39. with the letters "TEMP".  These batch files  always have a unique
  40. name and are deleted when you  return to LanMenu.  The batch file
  41. is run by DOS  because LanMenu stuffs the batch file name and the
  42. Enter key in the keyboard buffer  before it quits and gets out of
  43. memory completely. All memory is then available to your programs.
